Data Availability, Information Quality, Accountability...

What information and high-value data should we provide to make our agency more accountable, improve public knowledge of our work, and create economic opportunity? How can we make information and data available in a timely and accessible manner?

221g Administrative processing

Also with 221g Administrative processing, there should be a deadline on when it would be completed. I have read a lot of forums that some people have been waiting for years to get a response. Others are still waiting. During this long waiting period, the petitioner and beneficiary go thru pain and suffering, and the frustration that the US government is not doing enough for them. It is also frustrating to call USCIS ...more »

Visa Stamp option should be available in USA

To avoid lots of confustion and to full fill one commitment without fail Visa stamp option should be available in USA. I am sharing my personal feeling online now with lots of trust on DHS I also stuck in my home country after admin process and now visa denial after 6 months. I lived in states for more than 3 years and was working for same company. I have my apartment, household items, car and what not. I was paying ...more »

DHS should live webcast all meetings

The Department of Homeland Security should live webcast all meetings for proposed rule making and regulations where the public comment should take place. They should make these meetings available for on demand viewing and have the ability to have that content be indexed for video search. By doing this the public and stakeholders will be able to see the inner workings of the rule making process and make the content and ...more »

SPP

I am not comfortable with the outsourcing of Security for profit. I believe security is "inherently governmental work". Three years ago TSA was promoting the SPP program to the state of Montana. Now the Airports in our state are trying to outsource their Security in hopes of profit. This is wrong.

221g Administrative processing

For all the documents return back to NVC, I think they should have a tracking system setup so we can see if it’s being process or not. Besides that, I think that any return case should be review as they come in and not be buried in a pile of paperwork that will never see any day light.

TSA and privitazation

Dear Madam Napalitano; I would like someone to put an end to this SPP program. At GPI in Montana and three other airports have filed to go private. This affects over 100 TSA employees. The TSA employees have been wating for a decision now for over one YEAR. We have already lost people with many years of experience because of this. The possibility of loosing our Fedrqal jobs creates much added stress. It is true that ...more »

Immigration -National Visa Center

Information from the phone contact system is not always up-to-date about cases. Need to improve it to provide the actual/current status of cases. Applications take a long time at the USCIS Office, but there is a tool where one can check the status of a case online. We need to have a similar online tool to check status of cases that are at the NVC. It should give a general ideas on where in the process a case is.

Put all unclassified reports to Congress on DHS.gov

The Department sends hundreds if not thousands of reports to Congress every year, most of which are unclassified, but very few of these are available in the public domain. DHS should create a public repository of such reports on its website.

One DHS Virtual Awards Ceremony

Instead of each component having their own awards ceremony, have one, virtual awards ceremony for all DHS and post stories of each inspiring award winner on the web. The public should hear about Coast Guardians who rescue those in need of assistance, Border Patrol agents who save illegal immigrants from drowning or dying of thirst, and other everyday heros who work for DHS. This will serve as a counterpoint for the ...more »

SPP Program

Dear Director Napolitano: Please help us!!! We have a disturbing issue happening here in Montana. Three years ago TSA sent personnel to our airports promoting the SPP Program. Why would TSA promote a program that would cause their own loyal trained employees to become unemployed??? The studies we have researched have shown the SPP Program to cost more to the taxpayer and cause us to lose our federal job status. ...more »

SPP/Outsourcing

Our airport, Glacier International Airport, has applied for the Screening Partnership Program, also known as SPP or Opt-Out. Studies have shown that the SPP program costs the taxpayers more money than keeping the Federal TSO’s. A private company is in business to make profits and this cannot be done at the expense of the traveling public. The de-federalization of Homeland Security is not a wise use of our tax payers’ ...more »

SPP - STOP OURSOURCING FEDERAL SECURITY

I wholly agree with Susan Stricker and many other people. I believe that the SPP PROGRAM SHOULD BE STOPPED ALTOGETHER. The DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY AND TRANSPORTATION SECURITY ADMINISTRATION work in UNISON to FIGHT AGAINST TERRORISM..and to PROTECT OUR MODE'S OF TRANSPORTATION abroad. With that, I believe that the American people have come to recognize us as ONE TEAM- FIGHTING TOGETHER FOR ONE CAUSE. If this "unison" ...more »
