The Department sends hundreds if not thousands of reports to Congress every year, most of which are unclassified, but very few of these are available in the public domain. DHS should create a public repository of such reports on its website.
Collaborate with the DOT and state and local agencies to develop a single, real-time border delay notification system. The system should connect with a mobile application that enables citizens to identify the approximate delay times for both personal and business travel at all major border crossings. No one knows about this website. Just look at the dates for the other postings. If DHS were serious about public participation and collaboration they would promote this site at least every quarter. I have been a FEMA DAE for almost 18 months and only discovered this website by accident. And DAEs have no opportunity to share ideas or concerns. No one knows about this site. If DHS is encouraging participation and collaboration with the stakeholders and the public why don't they publicize this site and cite what actions have been taken in response to suggestions?
